Before all of these trips, I always have that fear: ‘What if I hate it?’ But that never happens. I always love it. More and more, I’m trusting that this is what makes me happy
I live the wonderfully silly route planning. I plan a LOT, but like Alice I follow my own instincts and needs and so if I have a friend on the other side if the Rhodope mountains, on a route which adds 2000 meters and follows no official cycle paths, then I'll take it. There are wonderous in ever corner of the planet and taking the weird oath will bring you to them 🥰
Big fan of the interview format! Nailed it. Alice's trips all sound unreal, that is some super impressive
route planning. Plenty of inspiration there for future trips.
The 'Refugees Welcome' route is also bonkers. Barely even want to think about how much work must have gone into mapping that out. I imagine you had to ride some pretty odd and interesting roads to make that possible!
Haha - yeah, it was a pretty random bike ride. But so much joy in doing arbitrary adventures. Alice is an impressive human! Glad you enjoyed the read - thank you!
It’s a bit late to comment, a full month after you posted this*, but I wanted to let you know I really enjoyed this post and the interview format!
*I sometimes get a little overwhelmed by the number of Substacks that arrive in my inbox, and then I end up reading nothing for weeks...
Thank you so much Laura! :))

Instincts often make the best guides - there's wisdom in that observation, thank you. Sure, I'll take the weird oath!
Haha.. wonderous people* and weird oath** but I too enjoy the sound of the weird oath
