Half an hour later, crashing gears for my fourteenth three-point turn, I open my mouth and let out a roar of anguish. It’s not a scream. It’s not a yell. It’s a roar.
The weekend I avoided going to a festival for which I had already bought tickets, because I *did not want to see anyone and I didn't know anyone to see me. I knew that, if I went there, I'd feel much better once I did see people. But even so, I did not go.
What. A numpty. Am I.
Well done for doing the thing you didn't want to do.
Ahh, thanks for sharing that, Dan! I definitely don't always do what I don't want to do 😊 But it's nice to recognise the moments when we do do what we don't want to do. As well as showing ourselves kindness for the times we don't do what we don't want to do.
And the best thing is simply to doo-doo-wot-de-doo-doo. 😂
And now I'm thinking of the wonderful Shooby Taylor - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MutYIgL4Gbk (you ever hear the compilation album Songs In The Key of Z - The Curious Universe of Outsider Music? If not, seek it out! Fscking wonderful!)
Hahaha - what just happened in that video?! 😂 Over The Rainbow has a poignant postscript: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QhE7uD8lK1A Not sure I'm totally with the weird, but I love the sentiment.
I have a genetic disposition for the weird. My musical (and other) tastes are not like other people. And if you weren't too keen on Shooby Taylor, then you're going to HATE Joe Meek's original demo tape for Telstar, which also features on the outsider music album: https://youtu.be/WaFzgv7wx9M?si=Ss6nsAitx1ZomMDg - quite unlistenable, but a fascinating historical document, as well as a document of the outer zones of creativity.

Haha, YES! That sentiment hit me right *there*.

I love this! 😂😍
Thoroughly enjoyed reading this!
Thanks Danielle! 😊
