Who am I?

Hello, you! 👋 My name is David and I’m a writer, outdoor instructor and cyclist-at-large with Thighs of Steel. I write stories that help you and me understand the world (and ourselves) a little better.

In the dim and distant past (2017-2021), I co-wrote four series of BBC sitcom Foiled and I have also been known to work with smattering of environment, adventure and refugee organisations including The Bike Project and Global Landscape Forum.

When I’m not writing, I help kids of all ages have adventures in the outdoors, on foot and on bike.

Why subscribe?

Every Friday, I’ll send you one original 800-3000 word story that will help us both make a little more sense of the world.

It could be interviews from inside a Greek refugee camp, a behind-the-scenes look at writing a BBC sitcom, or a deep dive into the science of psychedelics and/or sneezing. Check out the archives for a flavour.

Hello you!

I love getting emails so feel free to hit reply whenever inspiration strikes—questions, comments, stories and suggestions all welcome.

Big love,
