Austerity Fail, Clandestine Blues and Elevate Book Giveaway!
Demonstration Today Against Eton Austerity #austerityfail
George Osborne (“man of the people”) was rumoured to be out and about in central London last week, picking pockets ahead of his Autumn Statement TODAY!
Last year, George infamously told us that austerity was working. So we thought we'd go down with a TV crew and ask the good people of London: "Are the cuts working for you?"
We spoke to teachers, shop keepers, market stall holders, city workers, singers, chefs, young, old, rich and jobless and could not find one single person to defend austerity and the cuts.
Strange. Maybe George is talking to different people. (Or maybe he's just not listening.)

Elevate 2014 - GIVEAWAY
After a couple of weeks of enforced isolation in Bournemouth, I have finished the first draft of the 2014 Elevate Festival book. Whoopee!
What is Creative-Response? What is Dark Google? What is Hopeability?
With help over forty thinkers, artists and activists - including Amy Goodman (DemocracyNow!), Antonino D'Ambrosio (Let Fury Have The Hour), Dr Vandana Shiva (International Forum on Globalisation) and poet Deanna Rodger (Read My Lips) - this book will answer all those questions and many, many more.
FREE BOOK FREE BOOK!
I will personally send you a copy of this fantabulous book (which includes a whole chapter on Overcoming the Monstrous Bluebird, as well as The Love of Your Life and why Crisis is Hope - goodness me, Elevate, you spoil us!) the second it goes to the printers. All you have to do is...
Share this mailing list with a couple of friends you think will be interested in my political / adventuring / comedy what not. Easy!
Then email me back (you can reply to this email - I'm right here), saying hi and how you shared it and I'll post you a copy as soon as it's printed - hopefully in time for your Christmas stocking!
Unfortunately, due to the expense of postage, I can only offer this, er, offer to people who live in the UK. This is terribly nationalist, regionalist and isolationist, but blame Royal Mail, not me (their complaints line is +44 3457 740 740). If you're living elsewhere, then I can only offer you a free download of the book, which is scant consolation, I know.
That's it, off you go! There are easy share buttons right here:
We're out of time, but there are so many more things that I want to tell you about in an excited voice, like...
- the forthcoming Abandoned Rugs Christmas single (big in Oslo)
- or Bradley Garrett's book EXPLORE EVERYTHING ("I have lived a life few people dream of and even fewer would aspire to. So what if people think I'm a cunt?")
- or that FOILED, mine and Beth Granville's sitcom / pension plan is currently being pitched to BBC Radio Wales (AHHH!)
- but, in all the excitement, I think I need a little sit down and some relaxing music...
Sudanese migrants singing folk song Adunya, recorded in limbo, between states, in Calais.
If you're wondering what Sudanese migrants are doing in Calais, then read their recent statement protesting the mass rape of 200 women in Darfur by government forces. If you're wondering how they came to be making beautiful music for you to listen to, then read this article from the Guardian on their clandestine blues.
Phew! That's all folks.
Hope to see you in my inbox soon. Share with your right-minded (or left-minded) friends, hit reply and tell me about you! I may sound like a narcissist sometimes, but really this is all about you.
Peace and solidarity and the word of the month: usufruct.
