THE Essential Travel Safety Feature (A Story)
Last week, I went to a story-telling night in Brixton. I wasn’t expecting it to be open mic. I also wasn’t expecting for my two friends to stand up and tell a story. But least of all was I expecting that, ten minutes later, I’d be standing up in front of fifty strange faces telling a story about – well, about this.
Calais Factgasm: Episode 1
A funny-if-it-wasn't-true ramble around the last week's news from across the border. Including: Egyptian squat attacked by Molotov cocktails, a lorry blockade of Dover and migrants pretending to be mud flaps?

The Munduruku: Weaving Resistance (Activist Film Teaser)
"If these dams are built, everything will end," says Lamberto Painha, one of the chiefs of the Munduruku tribe in Brazil's Amazon region. "That village over there will be flooded," he points. "Monkeys, birds, Indians - we'll all lose our homes."
Over the last few months some 13,000 Munduruku have been protesting against government plans to build a series of hydroelectric dams that will flood part of their land on the upper reaches of the Tapajos river.
Watch the film teaser here (I helped with some of the subtitles!)
And find out more about the campaign here.
What happened there, then, Scotland? The Trews is the news, if the news was true. It's also Russell Brand's latest attempt to engage the YOOF in politics. And it's working, damnit!
So, you might think he's a nobhead, but he's an articulate and clever man who agrees with almost everything I say. Give it a try: this episode's about Scotland and the political and media-driven reasons for their NO vote.
An encouraging show of mainstream political discussion that actually says something.
If you want something more writerly and beautiful (sorry Russell), then check out Sarah Saey and Jo Metson Scott's project The Borderland, which is now live!
That's it from me. Thanks for watching and listening and reading and generally being empathetic human beings. See you in October, when I shall be reporting back from the Elevate Festival in Graz, Austria. Email me back if you have anything to say, suggest or support.
