Microadventures, Hayfever and Chocolate Psilocybin Bombs
THEME: WHEEL OF FORTUNE
My Cycling Range, from comfortable to combustible.
ON THE ROAD
After joining the Thighs of Steel crew on Monday for a Bank Holiday cycle to the Quadrangle, I vow two things:
Be more waterproof.
Do more "short" cycles of 40-50km.
Hence the shoot-to-kill map above. That inner green ring is 30km as the crow flies, which usually levels out at ~45km as the bike rides.
Theoretically, I can pick anywhere in that ring and guarantee adventure - doughnuts, rainstorms and log fires. Blowing the smoke out of my lungs before catching a train back to the city.
I want to make these microadventures [a la Humphreys] a bigger part of my life. Ironic that I've spent 10 minutes inside a computer making a fancy map to remind me to get out more.
Make your own radius map here.
IN THE BODY
Hayfever getting to you as bad as it is to me?
Sustained use of certain anti-histamines can increase your risk of developing dementia in later life [Original Paper | Write Up].
For long term daily use, try loratadine (i.e. Clarityn, but Boots do a generic version) instead of Cetirizine hydrochloride (Piriteze).
Bless you.

22 Tips for 100 Push Ups (2010)
I used to be able to do 100 consecutive push ups?
6. Don’t try carrying anything immediately after a heavy session. You will drop it.
7. For this reason, don’t drink from a glass. But do drink (water).
10. Eventually you will stop making grunting noises that make people think you’re watching porn.
7 years later and I can do about 20. An unimpressive reminder that everything is in decay.
Thanks for reading! Now what?
I'm majorly looking forward to listening to topical comedy show The Leak (on iPlayer), starring the lovely talented people who are producing Foiled. WHICH IS BEING RECORDED NEXT WEEKEND. I can't believe this is really happening.
On Monday I've been given a press pass (!) to a talk at Cafe 1001 on the Science of Psychedelics by Dr David Luke from the University of Greenwich. There is one space left - I'd love for you to grab it! I'll be writing that up on Tuesday, so stay tuned for that.
My only other ambition for the week is to go to Brockley Lido - a freezing cold outdoor pool. With a sauna attached. Yes.
May your week be full of warmth.
