Squatting Deadlines and How to Dream Like Thomas Edison
Thanks for reading! Now what?
"Huh, what what?" I hear you think, scrolling madly (I wish) to see what you've missed. You've missed nothing. Nor have I - yet. But it's getting close.
I'm talking
DEADLINES.
Nothing too serious (Foiled is still on track), but about two months ago I said I'd write a podcast play about squatting, based on the excellent Dog Section Press detournement (DEFINITION) publication of the Ministry of Justice consultation Options For Dealing With Squatting.
Then everything kicked off with Foiled and, lo and behold, it's mid-March and the podcast is ready. Except there's no play. Enter LCW and their 15-minute play evening - the perfect place to have the first reading and get some rigorous critical feedback from friends. The only issue is that it's on Tuesday and the actors need the script, well,
TOMORROW.
Wish me luck and I hope you enjoy this week's backwards email - I'd better get writing!

New Feature!
This Totally Revolutionised My Life It's the small things
(title = work in progress + suggestions welcome)
#1 Paracord Bike Carry Handle - Extreme Version.
This is based on Mrballeng's Instructable - but with a little reinforcement thanks to some judiciously placed Gorilla tape. It cost me about £3 and an hour of my time - including learning all the fancy knots. You can buy a leather version from Walnut Studio for £20+, but you won't learn anything.
My first attempt failed when carrying a fully laden 40kgs over a bridge. My second attempt (with Gorilla tape reinforcement) has held so far...
Guaranteed to revolutionise the life of any stair-climbing cyclist in your life. Who knew bikes could have handles?!
Inexplicably Popular on the Blog This Week
Hypnagogia: How to Dream like Thomas Edison (2010)
This was one of my first attempts to write a blog post that the internet would love. Note the shamefully click-bait-friendly How To + Celebrity Name title.
I was depressingly successful. This is still pretty much always the most popular article on my site: over 3,397 views in 2016 - six years after I penned the damned thing. If anything, it's only becoming more and more popular. Such is the nature of the internet.
So if you want to see what all the fuss is about and read one of my first experiments in consciousness-tampering, then, please, click away...
p.s. The piece is actually quite interesting. Aristotle, Robert Desnos, Edgar Allan Poe, Isaac Newton and Beethoven all used creative hypnagogic states to inspire flashes of their genius. Maybe I should have persisted with this line of inquiry...
