No Plastic Bags | Literary Positive Constraints | No TV
It's happening. On Monday.
Yep. It's official. I signed a contract today: the Unbound crowdfunding for this here positive constraints book is launching next Monday the 12th of October. That means you can effectively pre-order the book from next week.
If you've enjoyed reading any of these little blog posts, I can promise you a whole book of brand new constraints, from No English to No Walking, stuffed full of silly adventures and very serious psychology research on, basically, how to make your life even more awesome.
Until then, content yourself with free things about plastic and suchlike. Sweet!
No Plastic Bags
This week, the government jumped on the positive constraints bandwagon, by making us pay 5p for plastic bags in England.
Will No Plastic Bags work when it's imposed on us? Or does that take away the "positive" choice we must all make before plastic waste ends.
Positive Constraints in Literature
Positive constraints are found everywhere in art. Even Tolstoy’s house brick epic War and Peace has an ending (eventually). (No, really, it does, I promise!)
But what totally unnecessary artistic constraints can help us writers be more compelling and playful?
No Television
When I was growing up, my family never had a television. The only time I saw a moving picture was when we went to my nan's or went on holiday.
From books to being weird, it made me who I am today and created the concept of positive constraints.
See you on Monday! :D
